As a young person, social networking is a part of my everyday routine.
It is something that I always find myself doing. Because of this, I find myself becoming inspired by people who share their everyday life through a blog or vlog. One particular online blog and video project that I have been following for a while now is JacksGap. JacksGap is made up of brothers Jack and Finn Harries. They started this project in 2012 as a YouTube channel which was designed to post recordings of their gap year and at the end of 2012, they found themselves traveling from place to place, enjoying their gap year and ended up delaying their return to University. JacksGap have now launched an online blog with an aim to document the world around them by creating content that engages and inspires others. They have a mission to take on three campaigns a year to help raise awareness to causes that they really admire and want to be a part of.

These two boys are truly inspiring young artists who have turned a love for something into a passion and a job. As a lover of traveling and photography myself, I am very inspired by Jack and Finn to explore the world some more, taking my camera along with me to capture the adventure. Their passion for helping other people is also very inspiring as it shows to young people that they could also be capable of helping change other people’s lives or lifestyle.
Young people now-a-days, find themselves caught up in social media and being so antisocial that they are forgetting about the world around them. Reading or watching some of the JacksGap’s projects can really inspire a young person to go out and explore the world and help people along the way.
One of Jack and Finn’s latest projects, “The School Fund”, really inspired me to want to help organizations that are similar and go out and physically see what the money you have donated goes towards and help set up other projects that the organization works with. The School Fund is a charity that aims to connect fundraisers around the world with students in developing countries. Their website is designed so you can see the students profile and then further engage with the student via an online journal. Jack and Finn shared their adventure through photography on their blog rather than writing about it, which gives you an opportunity to see what they were doing rather than reading about it and picturing it. They share photos of the scenery but also the students that they were working with and through these photos, you can see how happy they all look. I found this project very inspiring as most organizations write about what they do and ad a few photos, but Jack and Finn have photographed what they have done which shows anyone who wants to join the project, an inside peak at what they have to look forward too. From the photos, you can see how happy the students are and how their money actually helps them.
Jack and Finn take part in many adventures and document them through their blog which personally I find inspiring to young photographers like myself. If you are starting in photography, I recommend that you read JacksGap blog and also check out their YouTube channel to see what they do.
