EVERY DAY HAUTE: ELIE SAAB

Ever dream of the day that one day you too could wear a luxurious gown and go about your daily business as well? Though we can’t all rock the red carpet every weekend, there’s room for all of us to have a little touch of high fashion glam in our lives. Elie Saab has dressed everyone from Julia Roberts to Taylor Swift, his designs being nothing short of glamorous. The label’s recent Haute Couture show had a beautiful winter wonderland type feel, with many trends that all of us (you know, the non Oscar winners) can channel in our everyday lives.
1. Heavy Beading

A substantial amount of beading on garments were on trend this show, ranging from a completely beaded garment (right), to ones whose beads range in size (left), or a descending like illusion with the jewels (middle).
How you can get the look: There is nothing wrong with rocking a beaded cocktail dress on any night out, but the everyday incorporation can be a bit tricky. Try a heavily beaded collar, or chunky, bigger beaded jewelry pieces as well as accessories!

2. Ombre

Last year’s outstanding hair trend has made its way down to clothing. It’s seen more gradually on the right, but can also work being a little more choppy, like the images in the middle and on the left.
How you can rock it: This trend can be put as simply as a scarf, or all the way to a dress. Beware with a blouse though, a choppier ombre effect on a top has the potential to make your torso look shorter than it actually is, making the gradual ombre a better look for a blouse!

3. A-Line

A classic cut for a timeless dress was the structure of choice for the majority of this collection. A continual trend that can be seen on anything from a skirt to a wedding gown, it creates the ever so desired hourglass figure that we all lust for.
How you can rock it: This trend is probably one of the easiest ones to wear since it is seen anywhere. Try wearing an aline skirt with a tucked in blouse to work or school, or the same cut in a dress to your next girl’s night out!

4. Ethereal

The main appeal of this line was the ethereal, winter wonderland like feeling that each garment gave off. This flowy and romantic looks works well for all seasons, but what is usually expected more in summer is making a comeback into the fall and winter months.
How you can rock it: Try a flowy top or a nice kimono in place for a blazer. A scarf made with a flowy, thin fabric can also incorporate this trend in an understated way. Anything in a looser fabric in a winter or autumn colour will always do the trick.

5. Deep V

The dresses of the show switched from a high bustline to a plunging v for the ultimate juxtaposition of modest and sexy. The fuller gowns, longer hemlines as well as sleeves contradict the lower neckline.
How you can rock it: There are so many ways to rock a vneck, the possibilities are endless! Buy a deeper plunging blouse to rock with some trousers or a knee length shirt, or even take a buttonup blouse that you already own and keep the top two buttons undone (or what ever you are comfortable with). It can even be as simple as purchasing a vneck tshirt instead of a boatneck for casual wear, it’s really whatever you’re comfortable wearing and what the event is you’re dressing for. Keep in mind though ladies, the rule of two: showing maximum of two pieces of skin is recommended (but not a must, it’s up to you). I like to think that if one shows of cleavage and legs, it’s best to keep the shoulders covered up, particularly in the work place!
These Haute Couture pieces of art may not be in all of our price ranges or daily wardrobe musts, I personally have worn a gown all of one time. That being said, by picking out what trends are being seen and adding them into our own wardrobes, we can all have a little bit of couture in our day.
