FYODOR GOLAN: BEING MINIMALIST WITHOUT BEING MINIMALIST @ LONDON FASHION WEEK

New York Fashion Week? Check.

London Fashion Week? Currently basking in all of its beauty

The fashion week season is upon us and it's only expected that the fashion-crazed humans of the world are all losing their minds. I know I'm not the only one sneakily taking out my phone in my lecture classes hoping to catch a glimpse of as many shows as I can. LiveStreams are our savior and Style.com is our bible.

Minimalism is, as it has been for the past year or so, all the rage. I must admit that I was beginning to get bored with the trend in recent weeks as it's been so difficult to find clothing that isn't simple as an 8.5 x 11 piece of paper. However, I've realized now that all I needed was to see how designers shook things up in their 2015 collections and I've not been disappointed.

With so many big-name designers honing in on this trend, I made it my mission to find a smaller-name but equally as worthy designer whose risk-taking was evident the moment their first look stepped out on the runway.

So, when I was browsing through fashion blogs on Tumblr and happened to stumble across a photo of Fyodor Golan's SS15 collection, I knew I'd found the perfect example of how massively interesting something simple can be.

It seems like neons go through a constant cycle of in this season and out the next and I'm glad they're in the SS15 season because they've refreshed the minimalistic trend. Fyodor Golan has so wonderfully transformed what could've been overdone silhouettes into eye-catching, vibrant ensembles. Incorporating patterns like soccer players and football fields was so unexpected that it took me a while to even register what exactly it was on the skirts and dresses. Needless to say, even someone who has a hatred for organized sports would kill to don one of Fyodor Golan's pieces.

"FYODOR GOLAN collections encompass wardrobe for today's global modern & iconic women. Women that explore both their soft & expressive sides."

They do indeed do just that. Their clothing speaks to both the playful, flirty woman as well as the powerful and the fact that they embody that so simply is admirable. Keep your eyes on Fyodor Golan as I'm sure we'll be seeing more captivating creations from them very soon.
