Sadly, New York Fashion Week has come to an end. This past week has been showcased all over, from our TV screens to our laptop screens to our phones, everyone knew about it. There was always something to talk about! Let's review some of the significant affairs that have happened this past week.
To start off, let's talk about the Ralph Lauren show which was presented on Monday night at Central Park. Lauren decided to project the models on a four story tall water screen as holograms. Lauren, who was at the event in real life, was also presented as a hologram. To most, this might have seemed like an innovative idea which stood out from the rest of the shows, to others including potential buyers, it was a total bust. The audience at the show could only view the looks on the screen for a brief moment, before the clothes quickly disappeared into the mist.
Michael Kors debuted his collection with a "retro-chic" twist. Embroidered flowers, plaids, and A-line dresses, Michael really went back decades with this one. Although most don't seem to like a classic and older look, Michael's collection is actually very wearable, for an everyday look. "It's a crazy world right now; you know, we look at the headlines, and it's pretty tough out there. And I think that spring time ... it's a time that people do feel more optimistic and I think that if you put something on that kind of has some charm to it I think it changes your spirits," Kors stated in an interview. I totally agree with this statement, and by the use of colour put into his collection, he really emphasizes his beliefs.
Two girls who go by the names of Kendall Jenner and Naomi Campbell, who are obviously not shy of runway debuted a together in Diane von Fürstenberg's Spring/Summer 2015 collection. This may be a surprise to those who follow Jenner's activity, as she is more known for appearing in edgier labels such as Marc Jacobs. Although, it was less surprising to see Naomi there. They both looked as stunning and as youthful as ever. Seeing Kendall share the runway with legend Naomi Campbell, really proves that not only should she be taken more seriously, but also that she herself is worthy of becoming a legend sometime in the future.
New York Fashion Week has come to it's end, but there are certainly more fashion weeks to look forward to this season, including London Fashion Week, Milan Fashion Week Moda Donna, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Sydney, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Istanbul, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tokyo, World Mastercard Fashion Week Toronto, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia, and finally Mercedes-Benz Fashion Days Zurich. Stay tuned for more fashion week news!
