For all of those in the Southern Hemisphere, like myself, it’s now Springtime and that means it’s time for change. Spring is a time of new beginnings; the birds chirp, the flowers bloom and new life starts. It brings about new fashion to fit the new weather, along with spring-cleaning and new goals for people to try and change their lives in one way or another.
Some people think of Spring as just another season that we travel through but I like to think of it as a new chapter in our book of life, ‘Wow, how poetic of you Ailish!’ thanks guys, I do try. Spring, similar to any new season, holds so much potential for what it could have in store for us. But, in order to find out we need to be the ones to initiate the change and take the leap of faith into the unknown. This is daunting and a scary idea, trust me I know, but if we never try we’ll never know! A month that is known for bringing new life, new chances and new beginnings; what do we have to lose?
Now that we have all gathered this mind set let’s stop for a minute and think, “What do I want to accomplish?” and “What are my goals?” We’re over halfway through 2014 but there’s still time to change the things you want to change, do the things you want to do, and say the words that you want to say. It’s never too late to make a change in your life and the time of new beginnings is a perfect excuse to start!
So turn over a new leaf this spring or fall, wherever you are, and start taking risks and doing things that make you happy. You are your first priority and once you learn to make yourself happy everything else will become easier. A quote from my all time favourite movie We Bought A Zoo (which I highly recommend you to watch if you haven’t seen it) says, “Sometimes all you need is twenty seconds of insane courage. Just literally twenty seconds of just embarrassing bravery. And I promise you, something great will come of it.” Personally, I think that this is a brilliant quote to live by because sure it may cause you to do and/or say some things that might end up with an outcome that you weren’t hoping for but most of the time it will lead you to do wonderful new things, meet wonderful people and embrace life.
So go ask your crush out! Go redecorate your room! Go start a blog! Go to that cool party that’s happening soon! Go experience life and embrace everything that happens. Leaving this inspiring passage of wisdom in your mind, I wish you well on your endeavours of change.
