ZOELLA: YOUTUBE STAR SPEAKS OUT ABOUT ANXIETY

Zoe Sugg, better known as Zoella, is a beauty/lifestyle blogger and YouTuber, with nearly 6 million subscribers on her YouTube channel. Aside from beauty and fashion, Zoe dedicates videos and blog posts to issues which surround young people’s lives.

A year ago, Zoe made a video called “Dealing with Anxiety and Panic Attacks”. Not many YouTubers make personal videos about themselves, and we tend to think we know a lot about YouTubers, when in fact we don’t. Lots of people make the assumption that because YouTubers can sit down and talk in front of a camera for 10/20 minutes and then upload themselves to YouTube, that they have a massive amount of self-confidence. Zoe shares with us during this video that is a misconception and she, in fact, has suffered with anxiety and panic attacks for 10 years.
Zoe explains what a panic attack is and the reason why people may suffer with them. She also explains what experiences she has had when having a panic attack and how she finally came to the decision to see a local GP and ask for some help.

Whilst watching Zoe’s video, it made me realised how many people suffer with mental illnesses and problems which affect their everyday lives’ and made me realise that I am not the only one who sometimes has a hard time either at home or at school.

Whether you suffer with anxiety, depression, or you just have times where you feel like poop, you are not alone. My advice to you: tell someone. Suffering in silence is something that no one should go through and bottling up your emotions doesn’t help either. By telling someone it helps you admit to yourself that maybe something is wrong and gives you the chance to change that and understand what’s happening. Speaking to someone about your emotions can help you live your life to the fullest. Even if you tell a friend, a school nurse, anyone, it’s telling someone that is important. If you don’t want to talk to someone in person, there are a variety of websites which can help you which will be listed below.

Someone is always there to help you, no matter what your problem is. We should not be allowed to bottle up all our emotions inside of us to the point where we could burst. You are not alone.

If you’re struggling with anxiety and need someone to talk to:
