HONG KONG PROTEST: THE CENSOR OF A MOVEMENT

A roar from the Chinese community has been heard: a stand against the government for freedom and democracy. During the day of the celebration of the communist party (26th of September), Chinese men and women swarmed the streets protesting for democracy along with the right to have a voice.

This sparked a backlash from the government, which included shameless tear-gas throwing and violence, injuring many protesters. This outrage between the protesters and the police made the government censor the media, including banning Instagram, a social network often used to raise awareness about protests, as we have seen during the Ferguson protests in America.

This sudden choice of censorship from the Chinese government shocked the world as it proved the obvious covering of heated, harmful protests. Although this censorship was put under action, this did not stop people from all over the world talking about the protests, showing their support for the people in China.
