And it's Friday once again! I hope you all had a fabulous week- like I did! This past issue of Aura 32 that was published on Tuesday was one of our most exciting yet! Not only did we have an excellent 'Letter to Dudes' but we also featured our first band interview, which was with Liz and Louie HOLYCHILD! I'd like to start off by mentioning Lyncoln Doggett and the success of his piece in the last issue! It was incredible to see how many people were interested in reading his "A Letter to Dudes" and learning about feminism from a different perspective. So, thank you.

I'm currently on fall break which is sadly only a 4 day weekend as college is not fun enough to give us a good week off. However, any day off is appreciated wholeheartedly as the fall semester of school is always the toughest. I'm sure you all can relate. Having a few days off has given me some time to catch up on work, work on some of my paintings, cuddle up with some of my favorite books and sip down some hot coffee in bed. I've also been quite addicted to horror flicks (I get very excited about Halloween), and if anyone has any recommendations maybe I'll do a piece on that in the coming weeks. 

Anywho, when are you all on fall break and what are your plans to pass the time with the falling leaves?

Happy Tuesday!

This is a very exciting issue of Aura 32 because we have our very first.......band interview! On September 26th, some members of our team went and had the opportunity to talk with Liz and Louie of HOLYCHILD for a bit after their show. They're currently opening up for MØ on her tour. If you've never heard of HOLYCHILD or MØ I would definitely recommend that you open youtube up RIGHT NOW and check them out, trust me.

Not only do we have those articles, but we also have an important article on the feminism movement that's occurring right now. In a letter to dudes, Lyncoln writes this week about a man's perspective on the way that women are treated in today's society. He has done an incredible job on it and it's super important that others begin to realize that their actions may be wrong.

EDITORS' NOTE

Hello! It's a Friday and I could not be any happier- the weekend has arrived! Not only is this the 14th issue of Aura 32 but it's also October! Living in New Jersey has its perks sometimes- when it gets cold, it gets cold fast. When given the opportunity if its anywhere from 70-below outside you can almost guarantee that I'll be wearing something warm and cozy.  There's nothing better than sweaters, tea, and a good read in the fall.

So what do you like better? Shorts and iced drinks or boots and coffee? Let me know! Happy weekend!

EDITORS' NOTE

Learning new things is, perhaps, one of the greatest pleasures of living. We spend our days going to school, going to work, being told what is "best" for us by the people who work at our favorite stores and sometimes this bombardment of information that we didn't really ask for is overwhelming, frustrating and discouraging. 

But today has been a curious day and I've learned so many new and wonderful things by simply observing. Instead of spending my morning scrounging social media for the latest update on Beyonce or looping that hilarious Vine over and over again, I took time to read. I read with no particular goal other than to try to understand what is going on in our world today. And then I did some sketching for my architecture class and I made a connection between what I had read earlier and what I was learning in architecture and for some reason, that connection was so special to me. Not only had I learned something new but I realized that everything that I was doing today, no matter how seemingly insignificant and unrelated it was... mattered.

So today I encourage you to observe, to read and to make more of an effort to understand, even if you disagree. It is that mentality that, regardless of how difficult it may be to take on, makes life just a little more valuable.

Hi my lovely minions. Okay, I guess you're nowhere near my minions but still, hi my lovelies and happy Friday! I'd like to take this little bit to say thank to those who have so graciously read our publication thus far and given us feedback.

This past issue I wrote an article on domestic violence and after seeing the passion that some of our staff had for the topic, I invited them to give their own input on the issue. Because I believe that fighting domestic violence for both men and women is important to the success of our communities, I'd like to invite you all, the readers, to submit your thoughts, opinions, or personal stories with Aura 32 Magazine so we can continue to aim for change in this happening. Well, it's been a long week. And yes, it's only Tuesday. It seems that as it gets closer and closer we get to the end of the year everyone gets busier and busier, I sure am. The past few weeks have been filled with new music (thank you Jessie J, One Direction, Nick Jonas, and Calvin Harris,) controversial youtube videos-turned social experiments (thank you Sam Pepper,) and finally, tons and TONS of homework (thank you to my wonderful teachers.)

Oh..... and did I mention that it happens to be my incredible co-editor and best friend Ana's 18th birthday today? Well I have now! Make sure to send her some love and wish her a happy birthday!

Ah, fall is in the air in my city and I couldn't be happier! So here's a very typical, "I love sweaters and scarves and falling leaves" statement for you. On a serious note, the changing of the seasons should serve as a life refresh as well as a personal refresh. For me, this time of the year always begins with my birthday, September 23rd, which is second official day of fall and the perfect time for new beginnings. So, when does your new beginning actually begin? Think about it, follow through with it (because I believe in you), and go out and make the world yours!

With that, happy Friday, my friends! I hope this week was a lovely one.

In my editor's note for this week I'd just like to take the time to say how great friends are! It's really incredible that you could meet people who could change your life so much within such a short period of time! As a teenage girl, I'm very lucky that I have a close group of friends who I can trust, like to stay out of drama, focus on happiness, and laugh (A LOT!)

But, of course I have also struggled to make friends at some point. If you are beginning in a new place this year, are unhappy with your current group, or just want a fresh start; make it your week! Talk to someone new, try something different, and take a chance! You might be pleasantly surprised by the new people that you meet and find things in common with.

I wish you the best of luck with your new friend adventures and hope you enjoy our 9th issue!

Friends!

I realize I have been quite MIA the past few issues and I'd like to take this little blurb to say hello, how are you, and I hope the answer to the previous question is. "I'm doing awesome!".

I've been working on some neat things for our staff to get down and dirty with as 2014 nears its send (well, almost nears its end), and I've got major ants in my pants waiting to share all of it with you. It's absolutely incredible what we have achieved as a publication in the short time we have been a "thing" and that makes me so stoked for the future.

So thank you for reading and sharing and supporting all of our staff as we are so dedicated to making Aura 32 as cool as can be.

PS: My birthday is soon and that's what I'm most excited for this September. What are you most excited about?

I must admit it...... I'm slightly obsessed with Parenthood. I've been watching it nonstop since I started it on Netflix a few weeks ago. I'm a typical show junkie..... Gossip Girl, Bones, and Scandal are my go-to Netflix shows, but sadly there's such a thing as school.

School started almost a week ago and of course I have the usual summer assessments and the boring start up of the year. How am I supposed to finish Criminal Minds by the start of the new season with homework???? Sigh. These are the trials and tribulations of being a teenager.

Although I'm sure you're all super excited and enjoy doing all of your homework, I know that a majority of you are also Netflix addicts like me. I hope that you get to finish all of your favorite shows and get your work done in a timely manner. Also, I would highly recommend that you watch the shows I've mentioned if you haven't yet. (Just don't blame me if you watch an entire season in a day!)

Sixth issue....already? It's crazy how busy one teenager can get within a few weeks. I am completely used to constantly being on my internet as I find myself slightly addicted to social media- but I have never sent so many emails in my life as I have in the past few weeks.

Its amazing how fast things can change and grow and Ana and I are so excited about what's coming up for you guys in the near future. Think......more photography, more band features, and MAYBE JUST MAYBE BAND INTERVIEWS?!?!?!?!?!

Fall is just a few weeks away and Aura 32 will be taking the upcoming months by storm. Be ready. We sure are.

And here is the first of many September issues...

You know, I've noticed a trend in what our writers, as well as myself, enjoy writing about the most.

Music.

And I can easily understand why. Music is such an essential part of each of our lives. Some of us compose, some of us are born lyricists, and some of us are the type to just soak in a tune for hours on end because it feels amazing. Music is a uniting characteristic of humanity- and incredible form of storytelling that spans across thousands of years. 

So, no wonder we all love it so much. I think it's just a natural part of being a human being.

I hope you enjoy this issue featuring even more musical magic.

Busy, busy, busy. That's all I can really say. August has been a month of nonstop work, school, filming and music-making for me and as crazy as it gets sometimes, I couldn't be happier! When I was in high school, I was too shy to go out and participate in things that the rest of my peers were doing. I never went to sporting events or fundraisers, and never did I party. But within a week's time of going to college, I've gotten a completely new outlook on life and on myself. I guess what I'm trying to say is, it's totally awesome to put yourself out there and meet new people. Do something you've never done before. Go jump into that club you've always wanted to join. Stay out late and wake up early. Whatever it is that you've been yearning to do but have yet to actually do, DO IT.

I wish all of you the best as everyone hops back into the school routine. Wear your biggest smile and make it the best year yet!

Woah… August 26th already? For most people, school has already started, and for some (like me), we have about a week left of summer until we join the rest of you! Finishing all of the work that's been assigned and getting stressed out about the workload you’ve taken on for this year can be difficult- but there’s also another incredibly stressful thing about this time of the year- FALL TOURS! All of my favorite artists happen to be announcing gigs and tours that are local to me and I find this just as gut-wrenching as the thought of starting school. How does one teenager conjure up the time and money to attend every possible fall show near them? Hopes and dreams will get me through this upcoming season as I get sent front row videos of my friends at all of my favorite artists’ gigs. For now, I’ll keep saving up and hope that my chances of attending these gigs aren’t so out of reach…………

And just like that it's our second issue.

I knew from the time I was 4 years old that when I grew up and got a job I wanted to be making music or making art or designing clothes (or maybe running an animal sanctuary but, hey). How did I know that? Because creativity was fostered and encouraged by everyone around me. That encouragement is so important and sometimes those who are creatively inclined don't get it. They don't feel like their pure, raw talent is appreciated and that it really can change the world one day. That's why when Olivia came to me with the idea of starting an online magazine I jumped at the opportunity and said, "YES!". All I could imagine was Aura 32 being a place where people can come and feel inspired to do exactly what it is they love to do regardless of what others may think.

I'd just like to say thank you to all applicants, our new team and anyone else who may be a part of Aura 32 in the future.
