Around fall and spring of each year, my local Nordstrom puts on a high-fashion trend show. Ever since I was little it has been the highlight of the season for me. This year the show consisted of numerous designers and sales representatives from many high-end labels discussing their hottest products and how you can pull them off this season. The show had many great ideas for a multitude of price ranges. Some of my favorite outfits displayed fashion concepts that were completely foreign to me and I was really excited to experience these new trends.

EVERY DAY HAUTE: BADGLEY MISCHKA
A name commonly dropped on any high-end carpet or party, Badgley Mischka is a label that has proved its worthiness from season to season. On the brand’s website in the section which they showcase certain celebrities wearing their clothes, they include Giuliana Rancic, Oprah Winfrey, and Christina Hendricks. To me, this means that this brand knows how to dress every body type. This is probably directly related to its longevity, so let’s take a look at their Fall 2014 trends and see how we can incorporate them in our lives.

IT'S CALLED FASHION, LOOK IT UP
It seems that there has always been a misconception of what fashion really is and who fashion is for. When I was younger I always felt as if fashion was this untouchable realm reserved only for the super skinny and the extremely wealthy but as I got older I came to realize that this could not be further from the truth.
What most people do not understand is that anyone can be fashionable. Anyone can put an outfit together and have it be wholly unique and wholly their own style. It is not necessary to fit a certain body type or a certain economic sector.
In today’s society we face a lot of pressure to fit certain expectations-expectations put in place by the models that grace the cover of Vogue, Marie Claire, and other fashion magazines. The diets of the women who walk the Valentino and Marc Jacobs runways have become our gospel. We walk past the glass cases in the high end sections of department stores and silently sob over the quadruple figures that mark almost every product. We are so enthralled with the untouchable world of high-end fashion that we forget what fashion truly is.

EVERY DAY HAUTE: ALICE + OLIVIA
I’d like to share with all of you my latest fashion obsession: Alice + Olivia by Stacy Bendet. I first saw this label on reviews of this year’s New York Fashion Week, and instantly fell in love. Let’s go through some of my favourite looks from this New York label so we can all look like fifth avenue socialites!
1. FAUX FUR
When I think of fur coats, I think of the highest glamour possible. Faux fur is not just more socially conscious (a huge factor for why people do faux), it’s also better for your wallet as well.
How you can rock it: This collection shows many different ways to rock the fur, so whatever suits you best! I personally love the look of a faux fur vest (I believe Forever 21 sells them), with a long sleeve shirt and jeans.

EVERY DAY HAUTE: TEMPERLEY LONDON
Alice Temperley, designer of Temperley London, has got to be one of my women crushes of the moment. Her designs are incredible, embodying the perfect British woman in every which way. Since there are no stores in North America, plus most of us don’t have thousands of dollars lying around plus shipping and handling, I thought we would dissect her latest trends in order to become “Temperley Girls” on a budget!

KEEP UP WITH THE TRENDS
Let's talk fall trends. Fall 2014 is filled with moody heroines and darkness.(Blame it on fashion's ever-growing obsession with Game of Thrones). Look out for these trends this fall!

EVERY DAY HAUTE: JENNY PACKHAM
Whilst checking my daily Instagram feed before getting out of bed this morning, I saw the news that the Royal Couple is expecting their second child which made me drop my phone onto my face. Yes, Kate Middleton is currently carrying the 5th in line to the British Throne, making that fetus already more successful on the food chain than most of us. Being the die hard Kate Middleton fan that I am, I simply had to incorporate the Duchess in some way, so what better way than one of the Royal Wife’s go-to designers!

EVERY DAY HAUTE: ELIE SAAB
Ever dream of the day that one day you too could wear a luxurious gown and go about your daily business as well? Though we can’t all rock the red carpet every weekend, there’s room for all of us to have a little touch of high fashion glam in our lives. Elie Saab has dressed everyone from Julia Roberts to Taylor Swift, his designs being nothing short of glamorous. The label’s recent Haute Couture show had a beautiful winter wonderland type feel, with many trends that all of us (you know, the non Oscar winners) can channel in our everyday lives.
