IT ALL STARTED WITH SCIENCE

Every group of friends has a story of how their friendship was born. In some cases they started out as mortal enemies; others hit it off right away. Sometimes, it all began with a worm.

Before you ask what on Earth I’m talking about, let me elaborate. Way back in junior high science lab, a bunch of crazy 13 year olds were faced with the task of dissecting an earthworm. I paired up with two of my friends who were in my class, each of whom I’d already been close with for several years prior. Little did we know that cutting open a worm together was about to be the beginning of so much more.

After the worm, the three of us became the lab partner dream team, working together in every science class we took all the way through high school, but the true adventures began our senior year, when we christened ourselves as the A-Team and started hanging out as a trio outside of school.

Over the years we’ve been infamous for ridiculous things like buying a pair of baby ducklings and naming them after band members, getting ice cream and then walking laps around a casino for no reason at all, and getting emotional in Denny’s at 3am. We know more about each other than we know about ourselves at this point, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Seven years after a worm brought us together, we’re just as close-if not closer than ever. Even though we’re currently attending three different schools, our group message is blowing up constantly, and finding time in our schedules for “A-Team nights” is always a priority.

As we’re getting older, we already frequently talk about planning our weddings, and spoiling each other’s future children. No matter what may happen between now and then, when the big days do arrive, there’s no doubt we’ll be there standing side by side by side. Lifelong friendships can be hiding where you least expect to find them. Even inside a worm.
