TIPS AND TRICKS FOR A SPOOKTACULAR HALLOWEEN

Halloween is a time to celebrate the dead and appreciate all things spooky. It’s a day (and night) of fun, food and, dressing up. It gives you a chance to be someone, or something, else.

Sadly in Australia, Halloween isn’t that big of a deal. I wish we celebrated it more but, aside from the few children trick-or-treating and the Halloween themed parties that’s about as “Halloweenish” as it gets. I personally love Halloween because it’s one time of the year where you can be anything you want. You can take on a new persona and nobody will care. It’s like a masquerade ball where you can be anyone behind your new identity, your mask, except you can quite literally transform yourself. Halloween is a time where if you are quiet and shy you can become confident and bold, you can stay the same or become someone new; it’s entirely up to you. Halloween makes me feel powerful. It gives me a boost of confidence and a feeling of invincibility; I can do anything, be bold and take risks. Australia, why can’t you love Halloween as much as I do?

In appreciation for this wonderful day: here are my tips, tricks, and ideas for having a spooktacular Halloween.

PERSONAL REFLECTION: SAKINA INDRASUMUNAR

When I was in high school, I had a passion for Conceptual Art Photography. I would go to the beach one weekend and take my sister with me to use her as a model. I occasionally take self-portraits to portray how I'm feeling or what has inspired me to take the self-portrait concept. Whenever I got inspired, I would always have a plan for a shoot and either shoot that day or the day after. Below are some pictures I have created.

MODERN ART IN BRISBANE

Brisbane is a city full of art and culture. Many artists in Brisbane display their work publicly in an art gallery or they have their own studio full of their art pieces. Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) is a great place to visit if you want to observe Modern Art. Artists from around the world display their artwork at GOMA. It is a family-friendly place and people can interact with the artwork as well. It is important for Australian art museums to display artwork with Aborignal themes to it. Some of the artists that display their artwork use whatever is around them, and so therefore when people walk into the gallery, they could see artwork hanging down from the ceiling.

Below are some pictures of the artwork that are displayed at GOMA.
