EDITORS' NOTE

Happy Tuesday!

In honor of Mental Health Wellness Week which is next week (kinda confusing timing but, what the hey!), we decided to make this week's theme, 'Happy Place'.

Your happy place, my happy place, and everyone else's happy place are entirely different from each other. This week is meant to showcase all of the different ways people search for happiness, find happiness, or make happiness from nothing. Is happiness really a place? Does happiness come from your actions? Or is happiness just a state of mind that you create for yourself?

Whatever happiness is for you, we hope you enjoy this week's tips, tricks and stories on being sad, being happy and finding the light at the end of the tunnel.

THIS IS WHAT HAPPY LOOKS LIKE

‘OK’ Strawberry Milk, 2014.
Happiness by definition is “feeling pleasure” or “feeling content” but there are so many ways to be happy. Happiness is different for each individual and can be brought on by a variety of people, places and situations. Individual happiness has something in common within each person; it’s a good feeling that reminds us why it’s nice to be alive. Feeling happy is one of the best things in the whole world, and this is because it allows us to appreciate life and feel satisfied with everything at that moment in time. Happiness is a light shining at the end of the dark tunnel, it picks us up when we are feeling down and wraps us up in a warm blanket offering a cup of tea. Happiness is the friend that everyone loves and has, kind to everyone and everything.

OUR FEELINGS ARE VALID AND WE WILL CRY IF WE WANT TO

More often than not we tend to think that we are not valid in our feelings of hurt, betrayal, sadness, or even anger.  We’re selfless in the sense that we don’t think we are justified in our hurt feelings when we could’ve had it much worse. What we fail to realize however, is that we are human and what we feel is real and we are entitled to those feelings. We are allowed to be upset with someone. We are allowed to feel something other than happiness in a relationship. Don’t ever let anyone try to tell you that you shouldn’t be crying after a rough day because they’ve “had an even worse day”. Don’t ever let anyone try to tell you your feelings are insignificant or minuscule. Don’t ever let anyone try to undermine what you are feeling.

A FEW PLAYLISTS TO PUT YOUR MIND AT REST

Ever feel down on yourself and just totally out of it? Well, my advice would be to go into your room, put on your comfiest pair of pajama pants and blast some of your favorite tunes! Having your room resonating with your favorite songs while you're dancing around and singing at the top of your lungs can help relieve some of the stress that you may have built up. Just always remember that the people you listen to through your speakers will always be there for you. They make music just for you. Listen to the people who put you in your happy place. Now I normally listen to a good mix of genres, so some songs might not mesh well with each other, but I just like to listen to what I can jam to!
